Day 2…

Abseiling – Day 2

Abseiling

Nocturnal Safari 3

Day 2 of our trip and we all managed to wake up, despite having such a late night. After our filling breakfast, we went on to the first of our activities – abseiling!

Abseiling was a huge challenge for everyone, and we all attempted to take the big jump down. Everyone met their own challenges – it was such a huge, scary height and so many of us faced our own fears.

The second activity was fencing for half the group and circus skills for the other. Fencing was extremely exciting for all the children, even with a stuffy face mask and we got some great pictures of our amazing moves. Circus skills was very tricky, especially when we had to juggle with 3 bean bags. Our favourite trick was learning how to use the flower stick (pictures coming soon).

Moving on to our third activity of the day…

Buggy challenge and dance mania!

Buggy challenge pushed us to use our creativity to make a moving buggy out of plastic, wood and rope. We all succeeded in being pulled along by our own inventions!

Dance mania required us to compose our own dance sequences and the girls and boys had a dance off! It was very tiring but we all improved our dancing skills!

Mini Olympics finished off the last of the day activities and we all learnt the hammer throw, the discus, the shot put, the javelin and the long jump! Everyone learnt something new and pushed their skills to the Olympic limit!

On to the last activity of the day, after dinner, we all took part in giant Cluedo. It was like a giant board game of Cluedo and we had to solve the mystery of who murdered Billy Banana…

Find out how we solved the mystery in Day 3’s blog…

Video 1

Year 5’s trip to Rookesbury Park started with a short coach trip to Fareham. The weather was looking grey and wet, but luckily it became brighter whilst Year 5 were doing their activities.

But before that, we were shown around the massive house and grounds and of course, we were shown our rooms . No time to unpack though, as it was time for our first activity … Orienteering and Team Challenge! Orienteering was challenging but one team finished 9 out of 10 stamps, which  was really good considering they were so well concealed .

Later on after dinner, we gathered together for Nocturnal Safari! We learned about nocturnal creatures and even searched for some in the woods . Then,  two children at a time  pretended to be  nocturnal creatures by wearing blackout goggles, whilst all the other children tried to get past them without being pointed out (heard).

Finally, it was time for bed … But do you think any of the children could get  to sleep ?

DAY 2 COMING SOON!
